March Greetings! Hi Everyone, Ronan here, wishing everyone a belated Happy St. Patrick's Day. Since I last wrote, we completed our eighth consecutive show in Patchogue and have been booked for next year on February 26, 2011. March started with a return engagement at the Keswick Theatre, and then things got really busy. I was traveling between Boston and NYC as I finalized the purchase of my new home and met the movers there to unload all the furniture and boxes, and then was back in NY for a return engagement at the Westchester Broadway Dinner Theatre, and the St. Patrick's Day bash in Buffalo.
I was thrilled to work with Meav in Buffalo, and few people know that she and I were at Trinity at the same time, she studying law and me studying medicine. We sang together in a production of MY FAIR LADY in 1993 in the lead parts, and I'm working on getting some of the photos from Meav so we can put them up on the website. Anyway, it was great to sing with her again and also to appear in Buffalo for the wonderful Buffalo Sabres Foundation. We performed in the fantastic performing arts center at University of Buffalo, and the crowd was phenomenal. The show ended with FIELDS OF ATHENRY and we came back and did the encores, ending with GOD BLESS AMERICA. However, they just wouldn't let us go and we finally finished with I JUST HAVEN'T FOUND WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR and ISLE OF HOPE, ISLE OF TEARS. Meav and I then met with everyone at one of the longest meet and greets I've ever seen!
I flew back to NYC and picked up my car, then a friend and I drove on to Boston where I am finally settling into my new place. I am finding my way around Boston and enjoying it very much. I sang on the 14th at the Annual St. Patrick's Day Breakfast in the Boston Convention Center and was greatly honored by the warmth of the reception I received. Check the NEWS page for links to photos and one or two new ones going up in the Picture Gallery.
I have a few days before I am off to some private speaking engagements later this month, and then it's back at work on the PBS special, new CD, etc. I am also looking forward to appearing in Ireland in late May and June. In addition to performing in Dublin, Limerick, Galway, Waterford, Killarney and Cork, I will also be doing a private benefit concert for Sun Life in Waterford as well as a public benefit concert for the Kilkenny GAA team, The Fenians, in Kilkenny to raise money to improve their field and club house. It will be good to sing at home at long last. Check the EVENTS page for concert details.
Tholm is ending up his trip with Norm and the girls in Portugal. Delilah, Tara, Well Aware and Norm have all done well, Norm placing third yesterday in the speed race among some of the top horses in the world. I am very pleased with the results.
Thanks to all of you who have sent your good wishes for St. Patrick's Day and wishing me well in Boston. I'll be back in touch soon.
All the best, RONAN
